How the new Dietary Guidelines directive may change
Daren Bakst, Research Fellow in Agriculture Policy at the Heritage Foundation discussed the latest regarding the Dietary Guidelines, the foundation of school lunch requirements. He relayed that the New Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee has taken a much more public approach and will be focusing strictly on dietary guidance for Americans. The previous committee expanded their purposes to include global warming and the impact meat consumption on the environment. Federal Law requires the school lunch regulations reflect the dietary guidelines.
